CHILDREN DENTISTRY
A child’s first visit to the dentist should be enjoyable and positive. The more you and your child know about the first visit, the better they will feel. Children are not born with a fear of the dentist, but they can fear the unknown. Our office makes a practice of using pleasant, non-frightening, simple words to describe your child’s first dental visit and treatment. We want you to feel at ease from the moment your family arrives at our office.
Dr. Gupta is extremely gentle with kids and perform variety of procedures to maintain kids oral health.
· Preventive dentistry for kids
Brushing twice a day in addition to floosing and regular check ups can prevent teeth decay for kids. Dr. Gupta can create a treatment plan specific for your kid, review the brushing and flossing and discuss them.
· Restorative dentistry for kids
– Cosmetic fillings- White fillings require minimum tooth preparation and are still one of the widely used material to fill the cavities.
– Child root canal and stainless steel crowns-
A child root canal procedure is referred to as a “pulpotomy”. The purpose of root canal treatment is to maintain the life of the affected tooth so that the tooth will not be lost early. Early loss of baby teeth may cause future problems with the eruption of permanent teeth. Therefore, it is best to avoid early loss of primary molars by properly treating the nerve of infected teeth with a pulpotomy. Dental caries (cavities) and traumatic injury are the main reasons for a tooth to require pulp therapy. The “pulpotomy” root canal procedure removes the infected pulp tissue within the crown of the tooth. A medication is placed to calm the nerve of the tooth and prevent bacterial growth. Pulpotomy is followed with a final restoration such as stainless steel crown.
– Dental sealants
Dental sealants play an important role in preventing tooth decay (cavities).
Placing sealants involves bonding a plastic resin coating into the grooves of a tooth (pits and fissures). The net result is a smoother surface….one that is less likely to harbor food and plaque, and easier to clean with a tooth brush.
EXTRACTIONS
Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to render the tooth non-restorable. The most common reason for extraction is tooth damage due to fracture or decay. Other causes include severe gum disease, severe infection, preparation of orthodontic treatment, impacted wisdom teeth.
Dr. Gupta takes utmost care to relax you and perform the procedure with little or no discomfort. All extractions are carried out using the latest anesthetic techniques. During treatment, you can relax by watching a movie of your choice or listening to your favorite music.
PREVENTIVE NIGHTGUARDS/ SPORTGUARDS
“Minimize teeth grinding and clenching effects”
Many people suffer from Bruxism, which is the clenching together of both the upper and lower teeth. This condition occurs while you sleep, and can cause pressure on the muscles, tissues, and other surrounding structures of the jaw.
A large number of people who clench also tend to grind their teeth. Grinding is when you slide your teeth over each other in a back and forth, sideways movement.
Some of the symptoms include headaches, neck pain, jaw pain, ear pain, tense muscles, and excessive wear on the teeth which in turn affect TM joint.
Treatment
Dental night guards are most commonly used to minimizer teeth clenching and grinding effects.
We custom make a protective covering for either your upper or lower teeth, which will prevent the wear and tear on your teeth while you sleep, in turn relaxing the muscles and the joint.

When a child or an adult begins to participate in recreational activities and organized sports, traumatic injuries to the teeth may occur. A properly fitted sports guard is an important part of athletic gear.
